Akumal Location information

Akumal is one of the area’s oldest resorts. When it was first developed access was by small plane as the highway between Cancun and Chetumal had not yet been completed. It has long been a haven for tourists looking for relaxation in a beautiful, natural setting. Many people own homes and condos and winter in the area. Akumal offers excellent diving, snorkeling and fishing along with some fine restaurants and a few nightlife options. It’s location between Cancun and Tulum makes it an ideal base to explore area attractions. The strong sense of community makes this small resort especially attractive.
